Beauty retailer Douglas has released its sustainability report for the fiscal year 2022/23, which includes a more ambitious sustainability strategy, retaining some of the goals from the report issued in the fiscal year 2020/21.
"We are committed to our ambitious goals of further reducing our carbon footprint and promoting sustainable practices," said Sander van der Laan, CEO of the Douglas Group and Chairman of the ESG Committee.
Douglas' sustainability strategy is part of the company's "Let it Bloom - DOUGLAS 2026" strategy, focused on accelerating growth through an omnichannel business model.
Douglas aims to create a workplace that promotes diversity, equity, and inclusion and actively supports them by setting clear priorities for increasing representation. 89% of leadership positions within the Douglas Group are held by women, with 97% in stores and 60% in offices (as of September 30, 2023).
At the same time, people from 104 countries work for Douglas. Additional initiatives have been taken to attract, develop, and retain talent, including leadership programs, a new e-learning platform, and a mentoring program.
Douglas aims to reduce its carbon footprint by 50% by 2025. Greenhouse gas emissions have already been reduced in the fiscal year 2022/23 by 32% compared to the base fiscal year 2018/19.
