During the campaign period, Kaufland customers can donate non-perishable food items in the Happiness Box, specially set up near the checkout area, thus supporting disadvantaged individuals and families cared for by partner NGOs.
Items Eligible for Donation
Basic non-perishable food items (sugar, flour, oil, rice, cocoa, cereals and pasta, sauces, canned goods, tea and coffee, jam, preserves, chocolate spreads, chips, snacks, popcorn, chocolate and sweets, spices, seeds, nuts, dried fruits, biscuits) or personal hygiene products (toothbrush and toothpaste, soap, shower gel, shampoo, toilet paper, sanitary pads, diapers for children).
How Donations Will Be Made
The campaign benefits from the support of hundreds of dedicated volunteers who contribute by collecting, sorting, and distributing donations. Campaign volunteers, identifiable by their orange vests, will be present in partner stores, guiding customers who wish to donate.
Donated food items will be distributed shortly after collection through the nine Regional Banks in Bucharest, Cluj, Roman, Brasov, Oradea, Timisoara, Constanta, and Galati, as well as partner organizations, to vulnerable individuals such as children in day centers and foster care, poor families, elderly people in nursing homes, and many others in need.
"Kaufland takes on the role of an active partner in the communities it belongs to with responsibility. The company's mission remains constant: to bring joy to the homes of families and vulnerable individuals, offering them the necessary support, especially during significant moments such as holidays. We invite customers to get involved and donate to the Happiness Box; it's another step we take to help needy communities," said Anna Katharina Scheidereiter, CSR Manager at Kaufland Romania.
The National Food Collection takes place annually during the Easter and Christmas holidays. In 2023, 19 tons of food were collected in Kaufland stores through the Happiness Box, reaching 5,000 vulnerable individuals.
