Wizz Air will maintain its commitment to significantly reduce CO2 intensity by 2030. The company already achieved a record-low average CO2 emissions intensity of 52 grams per passenger/kilometer.
In April 2024, the airline announced a new significant goal to power 10% of its flights with Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) by 2030. This new aspiration further solidifies Wizz Air's leadership in sustainability within the industry and contributes to its commitment to reduce carbon emissions per passenger/kilometer by 25% by 2030.
Wizz Air has been recognized as the "Most Sustainable Low-Cost Airline" for the fourth consecutive year at the 2024 World Finance Sustainability Awards.
"In addition to fleet renewal and operational efficiency improvements, we are heavily investing in Sustainable Aviation Fuel, which is the most critical means of reducing emissions in the medium term. Achieving net-zero emissions requires collaboration across the aviation ecosystem to ensure that necessary technological developments are supported and financed. Therefore, governments and policymakers will play an essential role in creating frameworks that provide significant incentives to encourage strategic investments in renewable energy and low-carbon technologies," said Yvonne Moynihan, Corporate and ESG Officer at Wizz Air.
