The European Investment Bank (EIB) will provide a €250 million loan to the Belgian developer Warehouses De Pauw (WDP), which constructs and leases logistics spaces across Europe.

This loan is intended to install solar panels on rooftops and increase the number of electric vehicle charging stations for tenants.

The loan has a maximum duration of ten years, and the funds will be directed towards existing WDP logistics centers, primarily in Belgium, the Netherlands, and Romania.

The credit is part of the EIB's contribution to the REPowerEU plan, aimed at ending Europe's dependence on fossil fuel imports. It will also reduce the carbon footprint of WDP and its clients.

The new solar panels are expected to generate up to 350 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of renewable electricity annually, sufficient to meet the consumption needs of 150,000 people in Europe, according to the EIB. A significant portion of this electricity will be used on-site, and the energy improvements will enhance the value of the buildings.
