E.ON Energie Romania has officially entered the green energy production sector after completing the construction of a photovoltaic power plant for the Webasto factory in Arad. This project was developed under a long-term power purchase agreement.

With an investment of one million euros, the project was developed, implemented, financed, and is operated by E.ON Energie Romania. The plant will generate approximately 1,530.51 MWh of renewable energy annually, all of which will be sold to Webasto over a 15-year period at a fixed price with annual adjustments.

"Our goal is to expand our presence in the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) sector, and this partnership with Webasto marks an important step in that direction. Through this collaboration and others soon to follow, we reaffirm our commitment to supporting our partners in their transition toward sustainability by increasing their use of green energy while also helping them mitigate risks associated with electricity price fluctuations," stated Claudia Griech, General Director of E.ON Energie Romania.

Koehler Philipp, Director of Webasto Romania, emphasized that the PPA model aligns perfectly with the company's sustainability goals. The long-term fixed-price commitment for green energy provides "a stable foundation for future planning."

The project involved the installation of a photovoltaic system with 3,360 solar panels, each with a capacity of 460 W, within the Webasto facility in Zimandu Nou, Arad County. The plant, with a total capacity of 1,545.60 kWp, will enable Webasto Romania to cover 23% of its annual electricity consumption while reducing CO2 emissions by approximately 467.74 tons per year.

In the non-residential sector, E.ON Energie Romania currently has a portfolio of over 392 completed photovoltaic projects, totaling an investment of 74 million euros. These projects generate more than 104 GWh of solar energy annually, cutting CO2 emissions by approximately 23,000 tons per year.

A member of the German E.ON Group, E.ON Energie Romania is an integrated provider of natural gas, electricity, and energy solutions, serving approximately 3.5 million customers, including households, businesses, and municipalities.

E.ON Group has been a key player in the Romanian energy market for two decades. Since its entry, the company has invested around 2.4 billion euros, mainly in modernizing energy infrastructure. Additionally, its contributions to the state and local budgets have reached 3.8 billion euros.
