Hidroelectrica has completed maintenance on hydroaggregate no. 1 (HA1) at the Porțile de Fier I Hydroelectric Power Plant. All tests, including a 72-hour continuous operation trial, have been finalized, paving the way for integration into the National Energy System.
The project involved full disassembly of HA1, transport of parts to the UCMH Reșița factory for inspection and repair, and reassembly and rotor-turbine testing on site.
The works were contracted to SSH Hidroserv, which subcontracted execution to UCMH Reșița. The 9,500 mm turbine rotor underwent complex machining using unique, large-scale equipment available only at UCMH.
This is a first for Hidroelectrica: a complex project delivered entirely in-house by Hidroelectrica, SSH Hidroserv, and UCMH Reșița.
Porțile de Fier I, on the Danube between Romania and Serbia, is one of Europe's largest hydro plants and supplies around 40% of Hidroelectrica's output.
