Iasi Airport will have a new passenger terminal at the end of 2023, its construction having started in the fall of 2022. It will have solar panels installed, in order to save on energy consumption. The works at the new terminal are carried out by Strabag.

The management of the airport states that the new terminal will be the second largest in the country, after Otopeni, and that it will have a processing capacity of 3.3 million passengers per year. The development project has a total value of approximately RON328 million (€65.6 million) without VAT. The infrastructure development project also includes the creation of a photovoltaic park and the reconfiguration of the access roads in front of the terminals. The solar panels will ensure their own energy consumption. More than 150 workers are currently working on the construction site at the Iasi Airport, and the works are on schedule.

At the end of the year, the construction of the T4 terminal and the parking lot will be completed. Iasi Airport will become the second largest in the country.

The works at the new terminal are carried out by STRABAG, and the supervision of the construction site and the method of execution of the works are handled by the company MEDOS Construct&Consulting.

The deadline for the completion of the new construction is December 2023, and it will become operational starting in 2024 to serve foreign flights. 3.3 million passengers will be processed annually through the T4 terminal (950 passengers/peak hour).

In parallel with the works on the new terminal, work will be done on doubling the capacity of the car park, according to the schedule.

In 2022, a record traffic of 1,536,000 was recorded at Iasi Airport, 140% more than in 2021 and 16.5% more than in 2019. For 2023, traffic is forecast at 1.6 million passengers.
