The largest wool processing factory in Europe will be built in Romania. Romanian investors from Olt county, Făgețelu commune, invest RON 182 million (€36.4 million), as part of the state aid scheme, through financing from the Ministry of Economy, in a wool processing factory and in the manufacture of sound and thermal insulating wool products. The investment will contribute to reducing the negative effects of climate change, will lead to the achievement of the objective of energy efficiency, through the purchase and installation of photovoltaic panels, and last but not least to the creation of new jobs in a disadvantaged region.

"The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development welcomes the initiative of some Romanian investors from Olt county, Făgețelu commune, who obtained the amount of RON 182 million (€36.4 million), within the state aid scheme established by HG no. 959/2022, through funding from the Ministry of Economy. The funds will be used for the establishment of a wool processing factory and for the manufacture of sound and thermal insulation products from wool, but also for the valorization of secondary products, such as lanolin, organic fertilizers in the form of pellets or the compost resulting from the washing of wool". announces the Ministry of Agriculture.

Within the factory will be built:

• 1 production hall with an area of 12,500 sqm

• 3 raw wool washing lines with a unit capacity of 1t/hour/line, which will also include the following sub-capacities: centrifugation facilities for the extraction of lanolin; 2 pelletizing lines; a water recycling and reintroduction station; 2 automatic lines for processing and packaging finished products; energy production capacity through photovoltaic panels installed on the entire surface of the hall.

"The evaluated and validated project will translate into the construction of a factory through which this valuable resource will be processed, in which we find the purpose of the LÂNA Program, which we started in 2017. We will always be with the Romanians who want to invest in this activity by creating mechanisms to collect wool from sheep breeders in Romania, at this moment letters of intent have been signed with farmers' associations for 15,000 tons of raw wool", said Minister Petre Daea.
