The President of the Prahova County Council, Iulian Dumitrescu, asked the Minister of Investments and European Projects, Marcel Boloș, to agree to the allocation of non-refundable European funds necessary for the construction of a photovoltaic park that would ensure the production of electricity consumed for schools, hospitals, public lighting, dormitories cultural, libraries, etc. The money would come from the Just Transition Operational Program (POTJ) 2021-2027. In order to access this funding, an Intercommunity Development Association formed by the Prahova County Council and all the town halls in the county will be established.
The electricity produced will then cover the consumption of the public authorities in Prahova and subordinate institutions.
"At a time when we have problems with electricity prices, we can build our own source of green electricity and ensure the consumption for schools, hospitals or other institutions subordinated to the County Council and town halls. We will be able to use the money thus saved use to solve other problems in our communities. I spoke with Minister Boloş about our project and he appreciated that it will have a major impact on our county," said Iulian Dumitrescu, president of the Prahova County Council.
Prahova County is among the counties with the most contracted projects and the highest absorption rates of European funds.
In 2023, for every lei collected directly from fees and taxes, the Prahova County Council attracts 18 lei from European funds.
"We want, depending on the particularities of Prahova and the local vision of development, this money to be oriented towards supporting measures that produce consistent effects, with medium and long-term impact. I am sure that, together with the Ministry of Investments and European Projects, we will find the best solutions to support the citizens of Prahova to face the economic and social challenges related to the transition to a green economy", Iulian Dumitrescu also declared.
