The municipality of Caianu in Cluj County will cover its own electricity consumption from renewable sources. The Cluj County Council issued the urban planning certificate necessary for the establishment of a solar power production capacity to cover 99% of Căianu locality's own consumption, Cluj County. The project provides for the construction of a photovoltaic park in the town of Căianu-Vamă, on a plot of 2,000 square meters belonging to the town hall. The future installation will consist of 15 solar panels mounted on the ground, with a power of 550 W each.
All panels will generate a cumulative installed power of 103 kWp.
"We are glad that the Cluj local authorities have understood the benefits of green, renewable energy production. We encourage and support all municipalities that intend to submit projects of this kind, whose purpose is to reduce, in the first stage, the expenses of conventional electricity used for street lighting or electrification of public buildings and objectives. The use of this new type of energy will generate significant savings in local budgets, money that will be able to be spent on other development projects, benefiting as many Cluj residents as possible", said Alin Tișe, president of the Cluj County Council.
According to the technical documentation, Căianu City Hall will use the solar energy produced for related consumption, in order to illuminate the park and the nearby building, but also for public consumption in all six localities of the locality, namely street lighting, school lighting, and other public objectives.
The project, worth 1,175,584 lei, is to be submitted to the Ministry of Energy to obtain non-refundable financing from the "Fund for Modernization", a new national support program aimed at the modernization and efficiency of energy systems and the improvement of energy efficiency in 10 EU member states.
