Vascar, one of the main producers of meat preparations and preserves in Romania, installed a system of photovoltaic panels worth RON3 million (€600,000) close to the production unit in Vaslui. The project consists of 1,400 panels, on an area of 12,000 sqm, with an installed power of 770 kWp, the company says in a press release. The investment is to be amortized in 5 years. The photovoltaic panel system will produce 1,200 MWh per year, the equivalent of 245,000 kilograms of unexploited coal annually.

"We will continue to invest in the production of energy from renewable sources to reduce operational costs and dependence on conventional energy, but also because we want to act responsibly in relation to the environment. Vascar is a company concerned with reducing the carbon footprint and the efficient use of natural resources, for a greener planet and a better future for all of us", says Vlad Ciuburciu, General Director of Vascar.

Over the next 25 years, the solar panels will produce 27,500 MWh, reducing CO2 emissions by 15,000 tons, the equivalent of planting 825,000 trees.

The green energy produced covers approximately one-third of Vascar's annual consumption. The project was carried out by Volta X Solar Systems.

Founded in 1984 in Vaslui, Vascar is a company with 100% Romanian capital, becoming one of the main producers of meat and canned foods in Romania. More than 400 employees work for Vascar, and the company owns a processing factory in Vaslui and 21 own stores in the Moldova region, being one of the main employers in the region. Vascar recorded a turnover of RON108.9 million (€21.78 million) at the end of 2022.
