Last year, Brick Romania started a project to implement green energy solutions for its work units. The Brick store in Constanța benefited from an investment of RON1 million (€200,000) in photovoltaic panels, which provide approximately 35% of the energy requirement. The Romanian company originally from Constanța is in the process of implementing photovoltaic panels on its work units. The retailer estimates that the investment will pay for itself in 5 years. The store in Constanta is the first Brick store that benefited from the installation of photovoltaic panels.

The panels installed on the store in Constanța already provide approximately 35% of the energy requirement, i.e. 220,000 kW annually, at an installed power of 196 kW.

"Green energy solutions must be on the agenda of all major economic players, in a general context where energy is a challenge. Last year we made the decision to implement photovoltaic panels on all our work units and started with the store in Constanța. For this unit, we have already achieved with these systems 35% of what is needed and we estimate an annual saving of approximately RON280,000 (€56,000). We will continue to invest this year in the implementation of this green solution in other stores in our portfolio, which ensures sustainable management of the business and the reduction of the degree of energy dependence and also contributes to the reduction of pollution", said Oana Nechita, Executive Director Brick Romania.

After the Brick Constanța store that already uses green energy, the company will extend these solutions to the other Brick stores in Mangalia, Ovidiu, and Giurgiu, which will also benefit from photovoltaic panels. In addition, the stores that the company is going to open in the coming years in Oradea, Ploiesti, and Bucharest have already included in the project the implementation of green energy.

The company's objective is to gradually have its entire portfolio of units use energy from green sources. In the same strategy of transition to green energy, Brick Romania also plans to replace its fleet of cars with electric ones in the future.

Brick Romania, a Romanian brand of DIY stores, home improvement, and DIY projects, is in the process of expanding its national network of stores.

Currently, the company operates 4 stores: Brick Constanța, the company's first store, inaugurated in 2002, Brick Mangalia opened in 2017, Brick Giurgiu opened in 2019 and the Ovidiu regional center inaugurated in the summer of 2021.

The retailer plans to open a store in Oradea, with an area of 10,000 sqm inside and over 200 parking spaces. Other cities targeted for new openings in the future are Brașov, Ploiesti, Bucharest, Cluj, and Iași.

Established in 2002, the Brick store is a supplier of universal products used for building, maintaining, furnishing, or decorating the home. Currently, the Brick Romania team has approximately 300 employees, a number that will increase with the opening of the new stores.
