The Minister of Energy, Sebastian Burduja, announced that Romania has an ambitious investment plan until 2030, mainly 7 GW of energy from renewable sources. Officials from Romania, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Hungary met in Bucharest at the 4th ministerial meeting regarding the Agreement between the Governments of the four countries regarding the Strategic Partnership in the field of green energy development and transport. The meeting discussed the status of the ratification of the Agreement, the latest developments regarding the Memorandum of Understanding that envisages the establishment of a joint venture between the Governments of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Georgia, Romania, and Hungary, the revised terms of reference regarding the production of green energy, etc.

„ As far as Romania is concerned, we have an ambitious investment plan until 2030. It is mainly about 7 Gigawatts of energy from renewable sources that will come from different sources. We have representatives here from Nuclearelectrica and we consider nuclear energy as one without emissions, so green energy. They will also come from the massive potential of offshore wind energy and we are now in the process of finalizing the legislation and in public consultation, and in the autumn we will have the legislation for these offshore wind capacities and of course, we hope to use all these capacities for this important project (the Black Sea submarine cable n.r.) to transport energy from the Caspian Sea through the Black Sea and to the rest of Europe", said Burduja.

He emphasized that the project regarding the submarine cable in the Black Sea is a complex one, and the fact that a memorandum of understanding was signed on Tuesday between the countries participating in the project and will move forward with the establishment of a joint venture represents an important step forward.

"It is possible that in the near future new studies will be needed to implement the project in the years to come because technology is evolving all the time. It's a new field and we see how every week and every month new innovations appear globally and that's why we have to have a flexible approach. So, there are a lot of things to do", pointed out Sebastian Burduja.
