Renewable energy projects with a total capacity of 10,509 MW could be commissioned in the next period. Of this amount, 5,911 MW is to be wind energy and 4,598 MW photovoltaic energy, according to data from the National Energy Regulatory Authority (ANRE), cited by Agerpres.

Thus, according to the data sent to ANRE by the transmission and system operator (CNTEE Transelectrica SA), based on the list of technical connection notices (ATR) and connection contracts (CR) issued for electricity generation installations from renewable sources, in 2023 wind installations of 300 MW and photovoltaic installations of 372 MW would be put into operation, in 2024 of 276 MW, respectively 2,786 MW, and in 2025 of 4,163 MW, respectively 991 MW.

Also, wind capacities of 893 MW and photovoltaic capacities of 449 MW are expected to be put into operation in 2026, and in 2028 wind capacities of 279 MW.

At the end of last year, the total capacity of renewable energy installed in the electric power system in Romania was 11,650 MW, of which 6,642 MW was hydropower, 1,426 MW was photovoltaic, and 3,027 wind.

To this is added 134 MW in biomass/biogas/waste-based energy production facilities, 4 MW based on residual heat/geothermal, and 417 MW from prosumers.
