CCE Holding, a company specializing in the development and implementation of renewable energy projects, is starting the construction of its first photovoltaic park in Romania. The photovoltaic park will be located in the northwest of the country and will produce green electricity for almost 25,000 households in the future. The Horia1 photovoltaic power plant of 40 MWp will be connected to the Romanian electricity grid until the fall of 2024, according to the company's press release.
"The Horia1 photovoltaic power plant of 40 MWp is built on an area of 50 hectares in the Arad region. 68,302 high-performance photovoltaic modules, each with a power of 590 Wp, will produce green electricity for nearly 25,000 households in the future. The goal CCE's ambitious goal is to put the state-of-the-art photovoltaic power plant into operation by the fall of next year. An Austrian partnership was concluded with Raiffeisen Bank International to finance the project," the release states.
The Horia1 photovoltaic park project was developed together with the Banat Agri Group and the international group Frapag based in Austria.
Currently, CCE already holds project rights for a total nominal capacity of 980 MW in Romania. In total, ten photovoltaic power plant projects are in various stages of development.
The first contracts under the National Recovery and Resilience Program of the European Union (PNRR) were signed by the former Romanian Minister of Energy, Virgil Popescu, in mid-August 2023. The Horia1 project of CCE can now expect a total funding of almost €3 million, from the first round of financed projects.
"The signing of these financing agreements also accelerates the progress made by CCE in its efforts to develop renewable energy in Romania and consolidates its position as a pioneer in the European energy transition", said the general director of CCE Romania, Johannes Srajer.
Romania aims to increase its share of renewable energies by 7 GW up to 30.7% by 2030.
"Romania is very determined to expand renewable energies and is well above the European average in its efforts. A very good network structure and the will to accelerate the transformation to green electricity make Romania an ideal market for us. We are delighted to be able to accompany this process", Srajer also showed.
CCE Holding resulted from the association of the two photovoltaic energy specialists Clean Capital Energy from Austria and Enernovum from Germany, together with (Pension Fund) Azteversorgung Thuringen. The company, headquartered in Vienna, Austria, focuses on the construction, financing, and management of large-scale ground-mounted solar parks, as well as rooftop solar installations of large commercial buildings. Along with Austria, the company is currently active in Italy, France, Holland, Germany, Romania and Chile.
