Silcotub to build 19.8 MW PV park in Calarasi in 2024

Green Forum
Industrial pipe manufacturer Silcotub, part of the international Tenaris group, has started construction of a photovoltaic power project, with a nominal capacity of 19.8 MW and 21.2 MWp, respectively, in Calarasi. The project implementation period is 12 months, from December 2023 to December 2024.

The project is worth €19.5 milion, including almost €5.8 million in a non-reimbursable grant from Romania's National Recovery and Resililence Plan (NRRP) and the rest is the company's own contribution.

The overall objective of the project is the production of energy from solar renewable sources.

This project is intended to achieve several results: the expansion of the additional installed operational capacity for the production of energy from renewable sources with a nominal power of 19.8 MW / installed capacity of 21.2 MWp, within a site owned by SC SILCOTUB SA, reduction of greenhouse gases and obtaining a total production of electricity from renewable sources in the amount of 30.7 MWh/year and 614.2 MWh in the next 20 years.

Silcotub is a Romanian producer of small diameter seamless pipes. The company is present in nine cities in Romania and operates fully integrated production units, from the collection and preparation of scrap metal, to steelmaking and the production of high value-added tubular products. Since 2004 it has been part of the Luxemburg-headquartered manufacturer and supplier of steel pipes and related services Tenaris.
