Swiss solar energy firm Meyer Burger announced the closing of its photovoltaic plant near Dresden in eastern Germany, shifting its focus towards its US production facilities following a period marked by financial losses.
The company is initiating the initial phase of shuttering its facility in Freiberg by halting production in the first half of March.
Meyer Burger faces challenges due to an oversupply of Chinese goods in the European market. It intends to seek shareholder approval for financing its ventures in the United States, where businesses are capitalizing on reindustrialization support measures.
Employing approximately 500 individuals, Meyer Burger, the leading solar module producer in Germany, operates its assembly plant for solar modules in Freiberg, Saxony.
