Electrocentrale Borzesti announced the commissioning of its first megawatt of photovoltaic energy. Renovatio, a prominent player in solar energy and green technology in Romania, is set to finalize the photovoltaic project at Electrocentrale Borzesti by the end of April 2024, with a planned installed capacity of 50 MW.
The project entails the installation of roughly 75,000 photovoltaic panels, expected to generate 70,000 MWh/year, capable of supplying the equivalent of 350,000 households (with a monthly consumption of 200 kWh) for one year.
Additionally, at Borzesti, 50 MW of wind power will be installed gradually, with plans to develop a total capacity of up to 1,000 MW in Galati County by the end of 2028.
Funding for constructing the photovoltaic park at Borzesti, amounting to around €30 million was sourced from Renovatio's funds and bank loans.
OMV Petrom SA, Southeast Europe's largest integrated energy company, has recently signed an agreement to acquire a 50% stake in Electrocentrale Borzesti from RNV Infrastructure. The transaction is currently undergoing review by the Competition Council.
