SAPE, Romania's Energy Participation Management Company, will complete a photovoltaic park in Valea Calugareasca in May 2024. The investment is worth nearly €7.04 million of which approximately €1.5 million are non-reimbursable funds from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR).

”The execution contract for the 'Electricity Production Station through Photovoltaic Panels and Electric Energy Transport Network in the National System - CEF 4.9995 MW' was signed at the end of August 2023, and the final works are now underway so that, in April, just 8 months after the start of the project, the solar park will become operational. This is a clear indication that even companies in which the Romanian state is a shareholder can be an example of speed and best practices," said Bogdan Nicolae Stanescu, President of the SAPE Directorate.

The 5 MW photovoltaic park is situated in Darvari village, Prahova county. SAPE also owns wind farms in Constanta and Alba counties, totaling a current capacity of 27.5 MW with plans to expand to 100 - 150 MW by 2026.

Established in 2013, SAPE inherited the responsibilities and rights from the privatization of former Electrica companies, holding significant shares in various energy ventures.
