Saint-Gobain has entered into a renewable electricity supply agreement with OMV Petrom in Romania, spanning five years and renewable thereafter.
This agreement, known as a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA), entails the procurement of green electricity from wind and photovoltaic sources provided by OMV PETROM SA. Effective January 2026, OMV PETROM SA will supply approximately 800 GWh of green electricity over five years. Coupled with a photovoltaic park nearing completion at the Călărași glass plant, this contract will satisfy 100% of Saint-Gobain's electricity requirements in Romania.
Saint-Gobain Romania operates 14 industrial sites nationwide, engaging in activities related to glass, insulation, plasterboard, and construction chemicals. This agreement marks Saint-Gobain's second PPA in Romania and aligns with the company's commitment to diminishing its carbon footprint in the country. It supports Saint-Gobain's overarching strategy to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2050.
