Hidroelectrica has inaugurated the Microcentrala (MHC) Poiana Ruscă, marking the completion of its first investment project with external financing.
The MHC Poiana Ruscă project, with a total investment of approximately 462,000 EUR from EEA & Norway Grants, is the first Hidroelectrica initiative to utilize this financial mechanism within the 2014-2021 “Romanian Energy Program.”
The project aims to install a new 0.2 MW capacity, generating 1.5 GWh/year of green electricity with zero CO2 emissions. The electricity is produced by harnessing the servitude flow downstream of the Poiana Ruscă dam using an automated micro-hydro power plant, which is environmentally friendly and utilizes mature hydropower technology.
The construction and installation works for the MHC Poiana Ruscă were completed on June 19, 2024, moving the project towards commissioning and official inauguration. Key project partners included Uzinsider General Contractor S.A. and equipment manufacturer WWS Wasserkraft GmbH, with a connection contract to the National Energy System signed with Comranado SRL on August 10, 2023.
