Minister of Energy Sebastian Burduja has signed 24 financing contracts under a call funded by the Modernization Fund, aimed at supporting investments in new electricity production capacities from renewable sources for self-consumption by public entities.
The total value of these projects is €13.6 million, with the Modernization Fund providing €12.4 million in financing. The total installed capacity for these projects is 9.5 MW.
“By signing these 24 new financing contracts, we reaffirm our commitment to developing new renewable energy production capacities in Romania. These projects will not only increase green energy production capacity but also provide significant benefits to local communities by reducing bills for public institutions, ensuring energy autonomy, and protecting the environment. These investments are crucial for building a sustainable future and transitioning to a green economy. Since the beginning of my tenure, we have prioritized investments from the PNRR and the Modernization Fund. While the effects may not be immediate, in the medium and long term, these new production capacities will contribute to our energy independence, ensure a cleaner environment, and lower energy bills for Romanians. We will continue to support such initiatives and invest in Romania's energy future,” stated Minister Burduja.
Among the 24 beneficiaries of funding from the Modernization Fund are Ovidius Constanța University, the National Institute for Research and Development in Construction, Urbanism, and Sustainable Territorial Development “URBAN-INCERC,” Slobozia City Hall, Hațeg City Hall, and the town halls of 20 communes in the counties of Iasi, Cluj, Hunedoara, Tulcea, Ilfov, Timiș, Suceava, Olt, Mureș, Constanța, Arad, and Neamț.
