Photon Energy, a Dutch-based solar and clean water solutions provider, has announced the successful connection of a new 3.2 MWp photovoltaic (PV) plant to the Romanian grid. This marks the company's thirteenth solar plant in the country.
Located near Sarulesti in Calarasi county, the new plant is expected to produce approximately 4.9 GWh of clean energy annually, generating estimated revenues of €400,000 in 2025 based on Transelectrica's off-take conditions.
While the investment cost for the solar park was not disclosed, the generated electricity will be sold on the Romanian energy market without government subsidies or power purchase agreements.
The plant's electricity will be delivered to the grid operated by Retele Electric Dobrogea, a subsidiary of Greek power utility Public Power Corp. This latest addition brings Photon Energy's total capacity in Romania to 51.6 MWp and its global Independent Power Producer (IPP) portfolio to 129.7 MWp.
In August, Photon Energy also connected a 7.5 MWp PV plant near Faget, Timis County, to the grid.
