PPC Group expands into Italy with two new PV plants

Green Forum
PPC Group has entered the Italian renewable energy market with the launch of two photovoltaic (PV) plants boasting a combined installed capacity of 32 MW.

The facilities, constructed using over 55,000 bifacial solar panels, are set to be fully operational in the coming days. Together, the plants are expected to generate over 60 GWh of electricity annually, enough to meet the energy needs of nearly 15,000 households.

Konstantinos Mavros, PPC Group Deputy CEO for Renewable Energy Sources (RES), stated:
“PPC Group's entry into the Italian energy market demonstrates our strategy to become a key energy player in Southeastern Europe. These two photovoltaic plants are just the beginning. Our strategic plan includes continuous project completions until 2027, expanding our green portfolio through geographic and technological diversification to fully harness the benefits of the green transition and interconnected energy markets.”

The new plants are part of a larger agreement with Metlen Energy & Metals for renewable energy projects across four Southeast European countries.

PPC Group is steadily growing its renewable energy portfolio, with its installed RES capacity currently at approximately 5.5 GW, including 1.5 GW in Romania. Under its strategic plan, the Group aims to add 6.3 GW of renewable capacity by 2027, reaching a total of 11.8 GW. Over 60% of these new projects are either under construction or ready to begin.

The Group's strategy also involves entering adjacent markets with existing interconnections, such as Italy, Bulgaria, and Croatia, recognizing the significant renewable energy potential and opportunities in these regions.
