In the first ten months of 2024, solar energy generated by photovoltaic installations reached 3.18 billion kWh, marking a 55.1% rise compared to the same period last year. This figure includes contributions from prosumers.
Thermal power plants generated 14.06 billion kWh, a 1.2% decrease, while hydroelectric plants produced 12.53 billion kWh, down by 21.3%. Nuclear power plants contributed 8.9 billion kWh, a 4.3% decline. Wind power plants, from January 1 to October 31, 2024, produced 5.07 billion kWh, a decrease of 18.2% compared to last year, according to Agerpres.
Final electricity consumption for the first nine months of 2024 was 41.55 billion kWh, an increase of 1.3% over the same period in 2023. Electricity consumption in the economy totaled 31.54 billion kWh, up by 0.9%. Household consumption grew by 3% to 9.69 billion kWh, while public lighting dropped by 2.4%, amounting to 327.2 million kWh.
Electricity exports stood at 9.10 million kWh, down by 3.6%, while imports rose by 59.7%, totaling 10.82 billion kWh. Technological consumption in networks and stations was 3.92 billion kWh, a 3.3% decrease.
According to INS statistics, primary energy resources decreased by 1.5% from January 1 to October 31, 2024, while electricity resources grew by 0.1% compared to the same period in 2023. The main primary energy resources totaled 27 million tons of oil equivalent (toe), a reduction of 414,900 toe. Domestic production was 14.09 million toe, down by 4.9%, while imports increased by 2.5%, reaching 12.92 million toe.
