Eurowind Energy, a Danish company specializing in the development and operation of wind, solar, and hybrid projects, has announced plans to develop a significant wind energy project in Botoșani County.
Currently in the early stages of planning, the project aims to achieve an installed capacity of approximately 1,200 MW, reinforcing Romania's position as a potential key exporter of green energy in the region.
Significant groundwork has already been completed, including securing land agreements, submitting a grid connection request, and obtaining the initial urban planning certificate. The development envisions the gradual construction of nine wind farms spread across nine communes in northern Botoșani County, with full completion projected by 2031.
An essential focus in the upcoming phases will be engaging with local authorities, communities, and other stakeholders to refine the project's schedule, design, and technological framework.
Adrian Dobre, Country Manager of Eurowind Energy Romania, emphasized: “We are dedicated to fostering a transparent and cooperative dialogue with all relevant stakeholders. Although still in its preliminary phase, this project holds tremendous potential. With an estimated investment surpassing one billion euros, this wind farm complex could significantly boost Romania's renewable energy infrastructure and establish the country as a leading energy supplier in the region.”
In the near term, Eurowind Energy Romania remains committed to finalizing two renewable energy projects slated for completion this year: the Teiuș solar park (60.2 MW) in Alba County and the Pecineaga wind farm (48 MW) in Constanța County. The company has previously delivered three successful renewable energy projects in Romania: photovoltaic parks in Pufești (Vrancea County, operational since 2012), Hălchiu (Brașov County, operational since 2013), and Mihăilești (Ilfov County, operational since 2013).
