Raiffeisen Bank Romania is launching new environmental impact management campaigns. Raiffeisen Bank, the first bank in Romania to initiate a carbon footprint calculation solution in the Smart Market application, continues its efforts to help its customers to be aware of and manage the impact they have on the environment. Starting this month, the Smart Market loyalty application includes a new section, entitled "Care for the Environment", through which Raiffeisen Bank is launching new sustainability campaigns. Thus, customers will benefit from offers on products and services that help them manage their carbon footprints, such as urban mobility solutions or sustainable financing banking products.
At the same time, Raiffeisen Bank encourages users to contribute to the reforestation of an area in Putineiu commune, Giurgiu county - an initiative that will be launched in November.
Specifically, in the new Care for the Environment section of the Smart Market application, users will be able to convert their loyalty points for planting one or more trees in the Use Points section. At the end of the campaign, Raiffeisen Bank Romania will double the number of trees donated by users, and they will be planted in the chosen area.
The campaign is carried out in collaboration with the Children's Forest Association, which has the mission of growing forests in 100 communities in the southern areas of the country by 2035. The association is present in 23 communities in the south of Romania, managing to bring back to life through afforestation over 111 ha of unproductive land, of which 33 ha of forest is already in a massive state.
"We continue the sustainability initiatives with a new series of campaigns, which help our customers not only to be aware of the impact they have on the environment, but also to access a series of sustainable service offers, through which they can reduce the impact. At the same time, we are open and waiting with us for as many companies interested in sustainability as possible, so that together we can build this ecosystem of green products and services that we all need", said Vladimir Kalinov, Retail Vice President at Raiffeisen Bank.
In April of this year, Raiffeisen Bank Romania launched the carbon footprint calculator, which determines, based on the transactions made with the card or through the Raiffeisen Bank account, the carbon footprint of each user. The solution is audited by Deloitte and recognized internationally.
Since its launch in June 2022, Smart Market has gathered over 480,000 users on the platform.
