Between January and July 2023, the sanitation operator collected 1,026 tons of selective glass waste in Iași County. This is 314 tons more than in the same period of 2022, and the increase is 30%, the Iasi County Council announces. Glass can be recycled by melting indefinitely without losing its properties.
For each ton of recycled glass, around 315 kg of carbon emissions with a greenhouse effect are avoided, 660 kilograms of sand are saved and the domestic water consumption of a resident for 4 days is saved.
Recyclable glass waste is jars, bottles, and demijohn bottles, collected in the green bin.
The Iasi County Council also announces what is not recycled: glass windows / thermal insulation; lampshades, chandeliers or lamps; porcelain; plates; cups.
