The Integrated Waste Management Center was inaugurated in Roești (Vâlcea), located at 206,673 sqm. The center includes a modern ecological warehouse of 265,000 m3, a recyclable waste sorting station with 10,180 tons/year capacity, and a mechano-biological waste treatment station with 34,070 tons/year. The Integrated Waste Management Center (CMID) from Roești will serve about 49% of the population of Vâlcea County.
A team of 133 Inoveco specialists worked for 16 months on this project, which comes with modern mechano-biological treatment technology and state-of-the-art performance equipment.
34 SMID (Integrated Waste Management Systems) projects are functional in less than a third (29%) of the assessed administrative-territorial units in Romania, the majority (71%) not yet having an integrated waste management system, it is stated in the Audit Report of the Court of Accounts from the period 2015-2021, regarding the assessment of the risk of infringement against Romania regarding landfills.
Inoveco SRL participated in the last 16 months as an expert and general contractor in the execution of the works of the Integrated Waste Management Center (CMID) from Roești, Vâlcea County, where the beneficiary is the Vâlcea County Council. The project was completed according to the execution schedule of the SMID project, financed by European funds, and implemented through phase 2 POIM 2014 - 2020. The Inoveco team mobilized for this project consisted of 133 people, of which 12 Tesa personnel and 121 on-site, skilled and unskilled workers, and machine mechanics, some of them being recruited from the Roești area.
"CMID Roești was a complex project, with a high-performance technology, which will have a positive impact on the correct management of waste at the county level, to be under the regulations of the European Union. Through CMID, the objective of ensuring waste management in safe conditions for the environment and the health of the population of Vâlcea County was achieved, the project is important for the residents of the area by creating jobs. A particular aspect of this investment was the implementation of effective measures to secure the CMID, taking into account the natural characteristics of the site, as well as the steep slopes of the slopes and the identified risks, which included essential works such as gabion support structures hydrotechnical, shore protection from gabions, and the installation of collection systems for the evacuation of rainwater", says the director of Inoveco, Valentin Feodorov.
At the center in Roești, collected municipal waste will be treated, serving about 49% of the population of Vâlcea County, integrating the latest generation technologies for sustainable waste management. The site includes some essential facilities such as cell 1 of the compliant waste repository, a sorting station for recyclable waste, a mechano-biological treatment station, and an administrative area.
"Once the objective is put into operation, the residents of Vâlcea County will benefit from a modern ecological warehouse, with a 28-year operating life, a sorting station for recyclable waste with a capacity of 10,180 tons/year, and a treatment station mechanical-biological treatment of waste with 34,070 tons/year. The recyclable waste sorting station was designed as a semi-automatic facility, equipped with a sorting hall, waste reception, and unloading areas, sorting places, and storage space for bales. The station is equipped with advanced machinery, such as a bag opener with feed hopper, stationary rotary sieves, ballistic separator, air separator, and optical separator, as well as air conditioning and ventilation systems to ensure the efficiency of the sorting process. The mechano-biological treatment plant consists of a mechanical treatment hall, covered paddocks for forced aerobic fermentation, and a maturing space. This station benefits from state-of-the-art machinery and equipment such as choppers, stationary screens, magnetic drums, ballistic separators, optical separators, EDDY current separators, conveyor belts, baler, baler wrapping machine, front loaders and transport hook machine containers", added Cornel Naic, CMID Roești project manager.
The composting facility was designed for intensive biological treatment and includes 10 paddocks with a total area of 2,100 sqm. Machinery and equipment ensure the efficiency of the composting process.
