Romanians return 1.3 billion packages for recycling

RetuRO, the administrator of Romania's largest circular economy initiative, the Deposit-Return System (DRS), has revealed the progress and results achieved just eight months after the program's local implementation.

From December 2023 until now, 1.3 billion packages have been returned. In the last month alone, Romanians brought back 473 million packages to retailers for recycling, 35% more than in June.

In July, 763 million packages were placed on the market, and the collection rate was 62%.
