The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) invested €35 million in a green bond issued by Erste & Steiermärkische Bank (ESB), the Croatian subsidiary of Austria's Erste Group Bank AG. This investment marks a significant step towards promoting sustainable finance in Croatia and underscores the EBRD's commitment to fostering environmentally responsible initiatives in the region.

With the EBRD's support, Erste Croatia aims to mobilize funds for projects that contribute to environmental sustainability, including renewable energy, energy efficiency, and climate adaptation initiatives.

The EBRD's investment in Erste Croatia's green bond aligns with its broader mission to promote sustainable economic development and combat climate change across its regions of operation. By providing financing and expertise, the EBRD aims to accelerate the transition to a low-carbon and resilient economy in Croatia and beyond.

Through this collaboration, Erste Croatia and the EBRD are driving positive change by channeling capital towards environmentally sound projects that deliver tangible benefits for both society and the environment. This partnership exemplifies the power of innovative financial instruments in addressing pressing global challenges and building a more sustainable future.
