Fepra strengthens its role as a catalyst for the circular economy in Romania and plans a €15 million investment by 2030 to achieve environmental impact mitigation for a more sustainable future. As a result, Fepra aims to increase plastic packaging waste recycling volumes by over 20,000 tons per year and establish a national network of partners and 50 multi-material waste collection centers to collect monthly more than 450 tons of plastic, thus offsetting about 360 tons of CO2 per month.

Initiatives for the development of the circular economy planned by Fepra, one of Romania's leading companies in the sector of recycling and recovery of packaging waste, are part of its broad sustainable development strategy for the next seven years created in partnership with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).

The company has undergone a comprehensive strategic planning process over the past two years, starting with an analysis of the current market landscape and legal framework and looking at global future trends. Fepra's objectives are to further expand the range of services and products offered to current and future clients, broaden its areas of expertise and develop the new waste collection, recycling, as well as reuse capabilities. The €15 million investment funded from public and private sources will contribute significantly to a more sustainable approach to waste management, making a difference in the European circular economy.

“Through everything we do at Fepra, we strive to create a sustainable future and keep in mind that progress and consumption are interconnected. Our objective to be a catalyst for the circular economy is a natural step moving forward and we are confident it will help amplify our clients' sustainability initiatives through efficient waste collection, recycling, and reuse solutions. With the support of EBRD, we have succeeded in designing a solid strategic plan and a new governance system to increase our internal capabilities and processes in the following years, under the leadership of our new management team”, says Ionut Georgescu, the company founder.
