The state-owned drug manufacturer Antibiotice Iași made total investments worth RON 27.17 million (€5.4 million) in the first six months of the year for sustainable development. Of the total amount, RON 8.16 million (€1.63 million) represent own research projects, in-licensing, and equipment for the modernization of research capacities. Digitization of the platform through software dedicated to human resources activities, quality control, research, but also data security at the company level represents another direction of investments totalling RON 4.58 million (€916,000).
For the production of green energy from its own sources, the company obtained non-refundable financing through PNRR in the amount of RON 4.07 million (€814,000) for the construction of a photovoltaic park on the ground with an installed power of 2.5 MW. The difference up to RON 13.77 million (€2.75 million)- the estimated value of the project - is provided from the pharmaceutical company's own funds. The project involves the installation of 4,680 photovoltaic panels, which will cover an area of 31,428 sqm of the company's platform and will provide 26.4% of the required electricity.
Also, Antibiotice Iasi started the construction of a second park of photovoltaic panels on buildings, with an installed power of 1.2 MW. Both projects will be completed this year.
The company also obtained non-refundable funds, in the amount of RON 85 million (€17 million), for the project "Production capacity, packaging, and storage of sterile products, solutions and topicals" whose total value is RON 200 million (€40 million). The implementation of this project will ensure the manufacture of new valuable generic drugs by addressing new pharmaceutical forms, namely sterile injectable solutions and sterile topical products.
"Antibiotice thus brings to fruition the expertise in the field of manufacturing sterile injectable powders by approaching a new segment of medicines intended for hospitals (sterile solutions dosed in glass vials), as well as for dermatological and ophthalmic conditions (sterile topicals)", according to the company.
