Munch has prevented over 1 million packages of food from going to waste since its establishment in 2020, Munch Europe Szolgáltató told MTI. Munch's website and mobile application match retail consumers with catering businesses with surplus food. The platform allows consumers to make purchases at discounts of 40-70% while preventing food waste. Munch, a Hungarian startup that has developed a platform for restaurants and supermarkets to sell their surplus, has saved its users about HUF 1 billion since its launch.

Munch has around 2,000 partners in Hungary in 190 settlements in addition to the capital. Munch told MTI its biggest partners in Hungary are supermarket chains Spar, Penny, and Coop, but it also has agreements with bakery chains Lipoti, Cafe Frei, and Starbucks.

Munch has been present in Slovakia since March, and it completed a merger with Czech peer Nesnezeno at the end of last year. Munch has about 500 partners in Czechia and Slovakia and half a million people have downloaded its app there.

The startup aims to expand to Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Romania, Greece, and Bulgaria.

Munch told MTI its latest round of funding was in September 2022. It counts Fielder Capital among its investors.

The startup had a net revenue of HUF 56 million last year, public records show.
