The first 100% organic chicken farm in Romania has been inaugurated by the Carmistin Group, which thus expands its La Provincia portfolio with Healthy Fed BIO Chicken. Coming from the new farm, it will be available on the Romanian market starting from November 1, 2023. The new farm inaugurated by Carmistin is located in Leleasca commune, Olt County. In the medium and long term, the company plans to expand the BIO segment, by opening new profile farms.

"The opening of the first BIO chicken meat farm marks a particularly important moment for us, being a natural continuation of the Carmistin plan regarding the production of BIO food in Romania. The demand for such a product, such as BIO La Provincia Chicken, is a sign of the maturity of the market, which shows a growing concern for quality and for healthy food, produced in a responsible and sustainable way", said Andrei Brumaru, Carmistin CEO.

Raising chickens in the BIO system has no negative effects on the environment. La Provincia is currently the only Romanian brand with two certified slaughterhouses for BIO food, the company says.

Also this year, Carmistin also launched the first BIO La Provincia eggs range. The brand's portfolio includes vegetarian chicken raised with vegetables and grains, chicken without antibiotics, chicken raised on the ground, marinated chicken, and the new BIO chicken.

The chicken division represented, at the level of last year, over 50% of the Carmistin business, a Group currently positioned among the first food producers in Romania. Carmistin entered the poultry breeding market in 2008, by establishing the company Avicarvil, together with the takeover of the Oltchim poultry platform, a platform with a history of over three decades in the breeding and production of poultry meat.

The Carmistin Group includes over 20 companies active in poultry and egg production, pig breeding, cattle breeding, and grain production. Carmistin currently includes farmers with over 10,000 hectares of cultivated land, of which over 30% represents BIO agriculture.
