Photon Energy has connected a new 7.5 MWp solar photovoltaic (PV) power plant to the grid in Romania, marking its twelfth operational plant in the country.
Located near the town of Făget in Timiș County, the new plant is the third in the area. It is expected to produce approximately 11.1 GWh of clean energy annually, which will be sold on the energy market on a merchant basis, without governmental support or power purchase agreements (PPAs).
"We are proud to expand our portfolio of solar PV assets by an additional 7.5 MWp in Romania," said Photon Energy Group CEO Georg Hotar. "This latest plant is especially significant as it's our largest so far. It brings our total portfolio in Romania to twelve plants with a combined installed capacity of 48.4 MWp and increases our global portfolio to 100 power plants with a total capacity of 140.3 MWp."
The company also plans to commission another 3.2 MWp of green energy capacity in the southeastern commune of Sărulești, Călărași County, by the end of the year, which will boost its global independent power producer (IPP) portfolio to 143.5 MWp.
Earlier in January, Photon Energy connected another PV plant near Făget, Timiș County, with a capacity of 3.9 MWp.
