The Romanian Ministry of Energy is set to allocate an additional €150 million for electricity storage batteries.
The primary goal of this initiative is to support investments in the development of electrical energy storage capacities (batteries) generated from renewable energy sources (solar, wind, and hydroelectric), which are capable of operating independently.
The process will follow a competitive bidding procedure, with the only selection criterion being the amount of state aid requested, measured in € per MWh. The official period for submitting project proposals for the construction of electricity storage facilities will be announced on the official website of the Romanian Ministry of Energy.
The total budget for this state aid scheme is the equivalent in lei of €150 million, allocated as non-refundable funds from the Modernization Fund. The deadline for submitting comments on this scheme is February 17, 2025.
