The state company CFR announces investments of RON 21.03 million (€ 4.2 million), excluding VAT, in the modernization of the Timisoara North Railway Station. The term for this works is 18 months. The construction site is now fully organised, the first measures taken by the builder being those for the delimitation of work areas, by mounting indicators/reflective tapes to prohibit access, closing the pedestrian tunnel and setting up a temporary footbridge to ensure passenger access to the platforms.
"As part of these extensive works, the entire facade of the complex of buildings (Buildings 1-5) will be redone, on an area of 3,451 sqm, repair work will be carried out inside the pedestrian tunnel, at platform 1, all electrical installations will be replaced, cooling installations (HVAC), photovoltaic panels will be installed, and the square in front of the station will be modernized and will also have an illuminated artesian fountain", informs CFR.
The builder is the association SC Constructim SA - SC Reno All&Construct SRL - SC Consinstal Concept SRL.
The completion date of the works is 2024.
In this way, an HVAC installation (thermal cooling agent) will be installed through 3 air-cooled chillers with built-in hydraulic module, electrical installations and photovoltaic panels.
On the facade and roofs, thermal insulation of basalt mineral wool will be installed for the walls and with extruded polystyrene plates on the plinths. Also, a curtain wall-type glass panel will be built at all 5 heating units. Two clocks will also be installed, which will indicate the time and temperature.
At the pedestrian tunnel, the floors will be redone with heavy-traffic-resistant and non-slip granite.
An elevator for people with disabilities will be installed for access to platform 1, a surveillance system will be installed and the lighting system will be replaced with LED fixtures.
On platform 1, travertine tiles will be installed along the entire perimeter of the station floor and the lighting system will be restored. A surveillance system and an information panel and 3 clocks will be installed.
At the station square, benches will be installed, the pavement of the square will be redone with granite tiles, ornamental trees will be planted, a bicycle rack. An artesian fountain with light games will be built, a lighting system with ornamental poles, a WI-FI system and video surveillance will be created and the meteor water collection and evacuation system will be restored.
