The mayor of Bucharest, Nicusor Dan, announced that he agreed with the representatives of the Solaris company to deliver the 100 trolleybuses ahead of the schedule originally proposed in the tender procedure. The trolleybuses will be able to be delivered in the first quarter of next year, between January and March, as opposed to March and October 2024, as was established in the contract. The operation guarantee will be at least 300,000 km from the date of commissioning or at least 5 years.
The 100 trolleybuses are purchased with non-refundable funds from the Environmental Fund.
These trolleybuses will replace the Astra Ikarus models, which were supplied in the years 1996 - 1997. The traction systems will allow a reduction in consumption of approximately 25%.
"We agreed together with the representatives of the Solaris company to deliver the 100 trolleybuses ahead of the delivery schedule originally proposed in the tender procedure. Thus, all 100 trolleybuses will be able to be delivered in the first quarter of next year, that is, between January and March, compared to March and October 2024", says mayor Nicusor Dan.
They will be 12 m long, with a completely lowered floor, and space intended for wheelchairs for people with disabilities, they will be equipped with a vehicle management computer with GPS functions and an audio-video information system.
They will also have air conditioning and a minimum autonomy of 20 km.
The director of Solaris, Eugen Daniel Ciolan, states that the company is also present in other cities in Romania - Ploiesti, Mediaş, Braşov, and trolleybuses similar to those to be delivered to Bucharest are already running in Târgu Jiu. He emphasized that the Polish company had no delays in terms of deliveries, and most of the suppliers it relies on are European.
The general director of the Bucharest Transport Society (STB), Adrian Criţ, specified that the trolleybuses will be distributed in all four depots - Bujoreni, Berceni, Bucureşti Noi and Vatra Luminoasă - and will run on all existing lines.
