The town halls of Ploiești, Oradea (photo), and Iași launched tenders for the purchase of 87 electric buses. The funds needed for the purchase will be borne by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR). However, these are not the only cities that want to buy electric buses with financing through the PNRR. In the last month, the municipalities of Sibiu, Suceava, Târgoviște, Bârlad, and Galați also launched tenders.

It is mentioned that electric vehicles do not release dust or exhaust gas emissions, which contributes to the improvement of public health.

Ploiești City Hall purchases 22 non-polluting buses, 22 slow charging stations, and eight fast charging stations. The project is financed by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan of Romania.

The estimated value of the purchase of Ploiești City Hall amounts to RON52.63 million (€10.5 million), the duration of the contract being 24 months. The deadline for submitting offers is August 9, 2023, according to data from the Electronic Public Procurement System.

Oradea City Hall launched an auction divided into two lots. The first batch includes 30 12m electric buses, seven slow charging stations, and two fast charging stations. Lot 2 includes ten 18m electric buses, three slow charging stations, and two fast charging stations.

The estimated value of the contracts for the two lots is RON 130.45 million (€26 million), their duration being 10 months. The deadline for submitting the offer is August 11.

By purchasing electric buses and the related charging infrastructure, necessary for their operation, the following major advantages are obtained:

A. increases the degree of satisfaction of travelers by increasing the transport capacity on congested lines by reducing boarding times; decreases waiting time in stations; ensuring a higher level of comfort by improving the quality of the public transport service;

B. expanding the transport network in the near future by extending or reorganizing some existing bus lines to ensure the decongestion of the city center (ring 1) and the enhancement of the newly built residential areas in the functional urban area.

C. reduction of operating and maintenance costs (reduction of the number of labor hours required for repairs).

D. improving the working conditions for the operating staff (spacious driving positions equipped with comfortable seats, air conditioning, modern dashboard with a control device that does not require physical effort for handling, etc.).

E. the application of policies to reduce CO2 emissions.

Iași City Hall is purchasing 25 new electric buses with a maximum length of 10 m (+/- 1 m), 25 slow charging stations, and eight fast charging stations.

The estimated value of the contract is RON58.19 million (€11.6 million), and its duration is 30 months. The deadline for submitting offers is August 18, 2023.
