Monsson has completed the transfer of 100% ownership of a 50MW photovoltaic park in Chisinau-Cris, Arad County, to NEPI Rockcastle, which plans to begin construction in January 2025.
“We are proud to partner with NEPI Rockcastle, the largest developer and operator of shopping centers in Central and Eastern Europe. As we've long anticipated, major energy consumers are now focusing on renewables to enhance efficiency in their consumption. This is just the beginning,” said Sebastian Enache, Monsson board member.
The 50MW project, part of Monsson's portfolio since 2022, received its construction permit and grid connection approval in 2024, paving the way for construction to commence in 2025. The project also incorporates an energy storage unit, designed to optimize the park's operation and support the national energy grid.
“Our green energy program is advancing in three phases. The first, completed in early 2024, saw the installation of photovoltaic panels across 27 locations in Romania, delivering a total capacity of 38 MW and generating €7.3 million in revenue within the first nine months. The second phase extends installations to properties outside Romania, with 24 sites already identified and in various development stages. The third phase focuses on the 50MW project developed with Monsson, with construction set to start soon. Additionally, we are assessing a second site with over 100MW potential, supported by a nearly €100 million investment,” explained Andrei Radu, Group Development Director at NEPI Rockcastle.
