Greenvolt Next to install solar plant for Agro Cluj

Green Forum
Greenvolt Next entered the local market in the last quarter of 2023, supporting Romanian companies with innovative solutions for generating and consuming electricity through customized photovoltaic systems (rooftop, ground-mounted, carports), energy efficiency interventions, solar storage, and electric mobility.

hese solutions help reduce electricity costs, decrease dependence on the grid, and achieve decarbonization goals.

The current project will provide the beneficiary with a photovoltaic system with a capacity of approximately 551.65 kWp. The PPA financing solution introduced by Greenvolt Next to the Romanian market will allow Centrul Agro Transilvania Cluj SA to benefit from a photovoltaic power plant without upfront investment, generating clean energy while reducing reliance on the national grid.

The photovoltaic system will cover one-third of the company's energy needs, generating up to 613,000 kWh annually. The contract spans 10 years, with a fixed price for the generated electricity. After this period, the entire photovoltaic installation will become the property of Centrul Agro Transilvania Cluj SA, providing an affordable energy source for the decades to follow.

Greenvolt Next's PPA agreement model is designed to meet companies' needs for sustainable energy without initial investment. It eliminates the need for upfront capital and operational risks while ensuring low-cost, predictable renewable energy for partners.

Initial estimates show that, during the contractual period, Centrul Agro Transilvania Cluj SA will save around €384,000 by using energy generated from the system. In the long term, over 25 years, total savings could reach up to €1.8 million. This significant cost reduction will optimize operational expenses and allow the company to allocate financial resources to other strategic investments.

“We are pleased with the market's positive response to the PPA solution we introduced. Romania is still heavily reliant on conventional energy resources, making the transition to renewables crucial. We are optimistic about the growth and innovation potential in the country and remain committed to supporting Romanian companies like Centrul Agro Transilvania Cluj SA in achieving significant energy savings, energy independence, and carbon footprint reduction. Our approach offers long-term financial predictability with no upfront investment required from clients, a considerable advantage in a market that has yet to reach maturity,” stated Filipe Dias, Country Manager of Greenvolt Next Romania.

“Our partnership with Greenvolt Next, along with the support from Cluj County Council, enabled us to take a significant step toward adopting a modern and accessible solution to meet our energy needs. This project, in which we have great confidence, reduces environmental impact and optimizes the company's long-term operational costs, offering additional predictability through the fixed cost of the electricity produced by the photovoltaic system. We believe we have chosen the solution that best meets our business profile, with an ideal balance between minimal initial investment and substantial medium- and long-term benefits,” stated a representative of Centrul Agro Transilvania Cluj SA.

Beyond financial benefits for the company, the project is also an essential component of Cluj County Council's sustainable energy development plan. It will contribute to reducing the beneficiary's carbon footprint by approximately 142 tons of CO2 annually, equivalent to the carbon absorption of over 7,000 mature trees.

Currently, Greenvolt Next operates in 12 European markets with a signed capacity of over 450 MWp, more than 180 MWp installed, and a portfolio of over 2,500 projects. It positions itself as a true pan-European platform for corporate and industrial B2B clients, offering comprehensive self-consumption solutions. Specializing in the design, construction, management, and maintenance of decentralized renewable energy systems, Greenvolt Next solutions include photovoltaic systems (rooftop, ground-mounted, and carports) for individual and collective self-consumption, battery storage solutions, heat pumps, electric mobility, all supported by flexible financing models, including PPAs.
