"Since I arrived at ANRE, I have seen an application for the establishment authorization - I think it is the largest so far, a photovoltaic park of approximately 1,050 MW, it is just an example that I give you to emphasize investors' appetite to become players again on this market. 1,050 MW, a single photovoltaic park, a very large investment; it means an installed power greater than a reactor from Cernavodă, which will be built in Romania. Why equipment and what level of equipment will be needed to carry out this investment? And in order not to shift dependence from Russian natural gas to equipment produced in other parts of the world - I think it is very important for Romania to have a photovoltaic panel factory that serves the market here" mentioned George-Sergiu Niculescu.
In his opinion, Romania can represent a very important market that can serve other markets as well, considering the fact that it is placed in a strategic area.
"I think Romania lacks a photovoltaic panel construction factory. I think Romania has the advantage of being placed in a strategic area so that, if we have such investments, we will not only serve the domestic market and domestic demand of equipment for such investments, but also the regional market", added the head of ANRE.
