Romania's prosumers exceed 2 GW in solar power capacity

Green Forum
Romania's solar power sector is experiencing explosive growth, driven primarily by prosumers. As of August 2023, the combined capacity of these small-scale solar installations surpassed 2 GW, with over 166,000 households, businesses, and institutions participating.

This surge in solar adoption is part of a broader European trend, fueled by falling costs and increasing environmental awareness. In Romania, the government has played a crucial role by introducing supportive policies and subsidies, such as the Casa Verde Photovoltaic program.

While large-scale solar projects are on the rise, prosumers remain the backbone of the country's solar energy landscape. Their rapid growth not only contributes to a cleaner energy mix but also empowers individuals and businesses to reduce their reliance on traditional energy sources. As Romania continues to embrace renewable energy, the future looks bright for solar power and its key players, the prosumers.
