Holcim Romania launches first bricklaying binder with 10% recycled concrete

Green Forum
Holcim Romania has launched PROZID, a bricklaying binder with ECOCycle® technology. Produced by the plant located in Turda, Cluj County, it's the first bricklaying binder with 10% recycled concrete from construction demolition materials and it has 30% less CO2.

Through the utilization of ECOCycle® technology, developed by Holcim at the Group level, construction demolition materials are recycled and integrated into cement, mortars, or concrete, reducing CO2 emissions by 30%. This initiative aligns with Holcim's broader goal of promoting greener cities and enhancing construction efficiency without compromising performance.

Cosmin Șerban, Commercial Director of Holcim Romania, emphasizes the importance of recycling concrete to extend the life cycle of natural resources, diminish construction and demolition waste, and minimize reliance on virgin raw materials for new construction projects.

In celebration of the PROZID launch and observance of Earth Day, Holcim Romania symbolically dims the lights at its cement plants in Campulung, Arges County, Alesd, Bihor County, and Turda, Cluj County, along with other operations and headquarters.

This milestone complements Holcim's ongoing sustainability efforts, including tree-planting initiatives and investments in water recirculation technologies. Combined with previous innovations like ECOPlanet cement and ECOPact concrete, the launch of PROZID underscores Holcim's commitment to accelerating the transition to circular construction practices.
