Galati City Hall will buy 20 Solaris electric buses. The mayor of Galați, Ionuț Pucheanu, signed a contract for the purchase of 20 new electric buses and 12 related charging stations, with money from the National Recovery and Resilience Program (PNRR). The value of the contract signed with Solaris Bus & Coach is about RON 60 million (€52 million).

"We bring only new and modern buses to Galati. I am glad that, within about a month, we have signed purchase contracts for 50 new means of transport: 20 10-meter electric buses, 10 trams, and now for this batch of 20 new 12-meter electric buses. They are environmentally friendly means of transport with all the facilities to offer the best travel conditions", said Mayor Ionuț Pucheanu.

The 20 buses are Solaris brand, Urbino 12 Electric type, are 12 meters long, and have a capacity of 74 passengers. The means of transport are equipped with a ZF CeTrax engine, having a maximum nominal power of 300 kW, and a battery system with a nominal capacity of 280 kWh, which ensures an autonomy of 302 km. The air conditioning of the buses is provided by a system equipped with a heat pump.

The buses will be equipped with a monitoring system with three internal and four external cameras and will be equipped with an access ramp for people with disabilities. There will be a wheelchair section with a safety belt mounted on the side wall.

The buses have zero exhaust emissions.

The contract includes four fast charging stations and eight slow charging stations.

The buses will be delivered within 16 months, but the first could arrive in about 12 months.

The City Hall of Galați has attracted a total of funds through PNRR for 62 new and non-polluting means of transport: buses, trams, and minibusses, which will arrive in Galaţi in the coming period. At the beginning of this week, a contract was signed for the purchase of 10 new trams, and in December of last year, another contract was signed for 20 new electric buses with a length of 10 meters.

105 new means of transport, purchased in recent years, are already running on the streets of Galați. These are the first 20 hybrid buses, the first eight new trams in the last 30 years, 17 trolleybuses, 40 buses, and 20 Euro 6 minibusses.

Also, the first seven Solaris trolleybuses arrived at the Depot of the Bucharest Transport Company, from Bujoreni. By the end of January, there will be 15 trolleybuses in the capital. The first trains will run on line 61 in Sector 6.

The city hall bought 100 new trolleybuses that will be put into circulation this year.
