DRI secures record solar PPA with OMV Petrom

Green Forum
Dutch-based DRI, the renewable energy subsidiary of Ukraine's DTEK Group, has signed Romania's largest physical solar power purchase agreement (PPA) with leading oil and gas company OMV Petrom.

The deal includes three PPAs over 8.5 years, totaling approximately 100 GWh annually at a fixed rate. It combines the sale of physical electricity with Guarantees of Origin. Financial details of the agreement were not disclosed.

Physical delivery is set to begin in January 2026, with OMV Petrom purchasing 62% of the energy produced by DRI's Glodeni I and Glodeni II solar plants. From January 2027, OMV Petrom will also buy 50% of the energy generated by DRI's 126 MWp Văcărești solar project, which begins construction in 2025.

DRI's Romanian portfolio includes 299 MW of capacity, featuring the first wind farm built in the country in a decade. With a strategy focused on greenfield developments, partnerships, and value-added acquisitions, DRI aims to deliver 1 GW of renewable energy and battery storage projects in Romania by 2030.
