Doraly Expo Market invests €2.1 million in energy efficiency solutions

Alina Oprea
Doraly Expo Market, located in Afumati, Ilfov county, implements ESG (Environment, Social & Governance) norms by installing photovoltaic plants, charging stations for electric cars and upgrading to LEDs in the case of all lighting fixtures. Through investments worth €2.1 million, Doraly reduces its carbon footprint, reduces dependence on conventional energy sources, and improves the company's performance by significantly reducing energy costs for the consumption of the commercial park. The photovoltaic panels will produce approximately 2,700 MWh of green energy annually, representing approximately 50% of the energy consumed. The company eliminates 800 tons of CO2/per year through the investments made.

The traditional lighting fixtures were replaced with LEDs, for the entire surface, an ecological decision, which reduces maintenance costs, but also energy consumption by 75%, bringing benefits to customers as well, through better, brighter lighting and a more pleasant work environment.

The installation of charging stations for electric cars helps create a sustainable environment, and facilitates access to charging electric vehicles within the commercial park, contributing to increasing their popularity and accessibility, the company states.

Doraly eliminates 800 tons of CO2/year through the investments made and aims to continue investing in solutions to reduce consumption, but also in the production of green energy to reduce the carbon footprint almost to zero.

Established in 1993, Doraly Expo Market was the first wholesale trade park specialized in food and non-food products in Romania. Developed on a land area of 280,000 square meters, on both sides of the Highway. Bucharest - Urziceni, in Afumati, Ilfov county, Doraly has 36 pavilions, with a total leasable area of about 100,000 sqm and about 4,000 parking spaces, including underground. The trade park is home to over 400 manufacturers, importers, and distributors and over 550,000 products.
