"We support HOSPICE Casa Speranței because we firmly believe in the right to dignity of the terminally ill. HOSPICE Casa Speranței is a home, a refuge and a symbol that reminds us all that, in the face of suffering, we are not and should not be alone. We are privileged to work alongside an organization with such a long and impactful experience in Romania", says Christina Verchere, CEO of OMV Petrom.
More than 170,000 patients need palliative care each year, but only one in five receive such services. Moreover, 11 counties in Romania do not have a palliative care provider.
"OMV Petrom's sponsorship is a landmark moment with a huge impact in the lives of patients fighting an incurable disease. We are grateful to the partners at OMV Petrom for understanding the need for help of people in extremely vulnerable situations and involved with substantial resources in a cause capable of generating change. We are proud that, 30 years ago, we opened a new path for more than 45,000 patients and more than 100,000 relatives. With the help of OMV Petrom, we now enter a new stage of development that will allow us to raise funds for the construction of two new HOSPICE hospitals: one in Brașov for adult patients and one for children, in Adunații Copăceni", says Mirela Nemțanu, Executive Director of HOSPICE Casa Speranței.
Since its foundation, Casa Speranței HOSPICE has helped over 45,000 patients and over 100,000 relatives.
"HOSPICE Casa Speranței believes that palliative care is a human right, and their vision is that, in Romania, all patients suffering from an incurable disease benefit from adequate palliative care services, at the right time, so that they can live with dignity every moment, close to the loved ones", says the foundation.
The cumulative value of OMV Petrom's social contributions amounts to around €120 million in the period 2007-2022.
