The Oltenia Energy Complex will receive a state aid of RON449 million (€89.8 million) for the year 2023, from the state budget, to finance expenses with greenhouse gas emission certificates. Until now, CE Oltenia has received state aid in the form of a grant of €776.4 million, also for the purchase of greenhouse gas emission certificates.

Iulius Group installed photovoltaic panels on all the properties in its portfolio and will produce 5,500 MWh annually across the group. The total investment adds up to more than €3.5 million.

The European Commission approves a scheme of Romania worth €103 million, within the Recovery and Resilience Mechanism, to support the construction of electricity storage facilities. The purpose of this measure is to support investments in electricity storage facilities, thus contributing to the EU's strategic objectives related to the green transition.

Global renewable energy capacity amounts to 3,372 gigawatts (GW) at the end of last year, some 295 GW or 9.6% higher than the previous year. The International Renewable Energy Agency (Irena) expects an increase in the number of employees in the renewable energy sector up to a total of 38.2 million in 2030, as investments in energy efficiency, electric vehicles, or hydrogen will increase.

Hidroelectrica signed a joint venture agreement with Masdar from the United Arab Emirates, for the construction of offshore wind farms and floating solar farms in Romania. Hidroelectrica is the largest producer of green energy in Romania, with a portfolio of 187 hydropower plants, with a hydropower capacity of 6.3 GW, plus the Crucea wind farm, with an installed capacity of 108 MW.

DS Smith plans to build a photovoltaic park at the Zărneşti paper factory. The park would be ready in 2024, it would require an investment of €16 million and would generate approximately 19 MWh per year.

In the Republic of Moldova, the installed capacities for the production of electricity through power plants that capitalize on renewable energy sources (photovoltaic, wind, hydroelectric, and biogas cogeneration power plants) have increased three times since 2018. At the end of 2022, the power the total installed capacity was 206.81 MW, compared to 61.6 MW at the end of 2018, according to the Agency for Energy Efficiency of the Republic of Moldova.

The distribution companies of the E.ON group set up 13,000 km of green corridors along the high-voltage overhead lines from the Black Sea to Sweden. In Romania, Delgaz Grid will develop approximately 1,200 ha along the route of 370 km of high-voltage power lines. Green corridors support healthy, sustainable ecosystems and biodiversity.

The Ministry of Investments and European Projects launches the REPowerEU chapter in public consultation, which will bring Romania €1.4 billion for energy independence. The amount will be used for strategic investments in the key area of energy security, which will allow the creation of clean energy production and storage ecosystems (hydropower, photovoltaics). This year's Environmental Fund Administration (AFM) has a budget of over RON13.3 billion (€2.66 billion). The Casa Verde Photovoltaic program has a budget of RON2 billion (€400 million), double that of the previous session. Also, a budget of over RON1.5 billion (€300 million) is allocated for the three Rabla programs, through which the Ministry of the Environment aims to eliminate over 200,000 old cars this year.

Italian group Enel has donated 5,700 solar photovoltaic panels to Ukraine with a total capacity of approximately 2 MW. The donated photovoltaic solar panels will cover up to 11,400 sqm of roofs of public buildings in Ukraine. They will be delivered by summer.

Tuborg Romania invested €525,000 in a system of solar panels with a capacity of 396 KWp that it mounted on the roof of the distribution centre in Pantelimon. The energy will be used for own consumption.
